Here is an MTH 20-3051-1 O Gauge New York Central 2-8-2 USRA Light Mikado Steam Engine with ProtoSound 2.0. The cab # is 5136. It features a flywheel-equipped motor, die-cast boiler and tender bodies, die-cast metal chassis and truck sides, metal wheels and axles, a decorative metal whistle and bell, operating marker lights and illuminated cab interior, two cab figures, a constant voltage headlight, ProtoSmoke system and remote-controlled Proto-Couplers.
Introduced at the turn of the 20th century, the 2-8-2 was an innovator breaking from the traditional manufacturing of locomotives, and featuring a larger firebox paving the way for greater speeds at a higher rate of power! Before we knew it, the 2-8-2 also known as the "Mikado" found itself in rail yards around the world from the United States to the Congo hauling freight from stop to stop. The Mikado would undergo a temporary name change after the Pearl Harbor bombing in 1941 shortly going by the McArthur, before eventually going back to the Mikado name after WW2.
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. One side of the boiler has a large missing catwalk piece, as well as a single one that is included and will need to be glued back on. There are light nicks and scratches present on both the locomotive and tender. This item has been out on display previously and its overall appearance could be significantly improved with a thorough dusting or a light wipe down. This item has been inspected by our repair shop.
