Lionel X2454 Vintage O Baby Ruth Railroad Boxcar VG

This is a Lionel x2454 Pennsylvania Bay Ruth Boxcar from 1946-1947. The 2454 box car was introduced in 1946. The style of this car was the backbone of Lionel's box car production from 1946 until 1953, at which time the infamous 6464 series box cars were introduced. These shorter cars are referred to as the '9 1/4" box cars'. The 2454 was always lettered with the Pennsylvania roadname. Most, however, also carried the Baby Ruth candy logo to the left of the sliding doors. The plain 2454 Pennsylvania, without the Baby Ruth logo, is a difficult car to locate. The 2454 with the Baby Ruth logo is a somewhat common car. It was regularly included in freight sets produced by Lionel, as well as being available for separate sale. However, production amounts of all Lionel trains were low in the late 1940's and colleector quality examples are hard to locate. This car features die-cast stamped metal trucks, die-cast coil couplers, and metal wheels and axles.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. The wheels show average run-time. There are light nicks and scratches on the surface of the shell and chassis. This item has been out on display previously and its overall appearance could be significantly improved with a thorough dusting or a light wipe down. The instruction manual is not included. The original box is included. Please check the photos for a detailed look at this item. Overall condition is Very Good.
