Here is a Lionel 97 Vintage O Operating Coal Elevator Loader from 1946-50. This classic accessory provides both loading and unloading action. When set between two parallel tracks, an operating dump car (like a 3559 or 3469) dumps its coal load into the bin on the front scoop of the 97. Then the chain buckets lift the coal into the building atop the tower. Then a button is pushed which opens a door in the floor of the house and releases the coal out a chute and the coal is loaded into a car waiting on the track in the back of the 97. Neat! This accessory has a bakelite base, metal tower, and a colorful paint scheme. This is a true 1940 classic and it measures 13" inches tall. This does not include a controller button.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. This item shows heavy scratches, nicks, dents, and paint loss in various areas of the body, detail and trim pieces, and base. This item shows spots of rust in various areas of the body, detail pieces, and base. Several of the coal buckets are bent and the shell of the building does not sit flush on the platform. The wire for this item is worn and shows scratches. There is green residue on several of the screws. This item did not run when tested and is being sold as is. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. The instruction manual is not included. The original box is not included.
