This is a Lionel 6445 Vintage O Fort Knox Gold Bouillon Car from 1961-63. This car features plastic construction, plastic trucks, knuckle couplers and metal wheels & axles. The 6445 Fort Knox Gold Reserve car is a highly imaginative freight car created by the Lionel design team. Imagine a real-life box car -- with piles of gold bullions visible through side windows -- traveling along the rails. This can only be accomplished in Lionelville! The 6445 Fort Knox Gold Reserve car is another example of Lionel designers using existing tooling to create a new freight car. The body mold is the same as the 3435 Aquarium Car first produced in the late 1950s. The simulated gold bullions were new to this car and never used again during the postwar era.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good. This car shows scratches and paint loss throughout various sections of the shell and chassis. There is some scratches on the windows. There is also some rust on the wheels, axels and couplers. There is some green glue like substance on the bottom of one of the trucks. The original box is not included.
