This is a Lionel 54 Vintage O Postwar Ballast Tamper Car. This neat motorized unit simulates the tamping down of ballast rock along the track. The small pile drivers move up and down, and the engine also slows down to half speed when the tamping action is activated. The tampers are controlled by activators clipped to the track. It features a pullmor motor, durable painted body, die-cast frame, engineer figure, operating tampers, an ornamental horn, flexible antenna on the rear, red tampers housed in a gray structure on the front, blue man in the cab, and a single non-operating coupler on the rear. This unit only travels forward and operates in two speeds.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. This car is in exceptional shape with minimal nicks and light scratches on the body. There are also only minor specks of surface rust on some of the axles. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. The instruction manual is not included.
