Here is a Lionel 165 Vintage O Operating Gantry Crane with Electromagnet from 1940-42. Gantry Cranes are one of Lionel‘s greatest accessories. You can rotate the cab right or left, raise and lower the hook, and turn the electromagnet on and off all by remote control. When you turn on the electromagnet you can pick up small steel items and load and unload them, like from your scrap yard and into waiting gondolas. When the electromagnet is on there is also a red light in the cab that illuminates as well. It measures approximately 10 inches in height.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. This item shows heavy scratches, dents, and paint loss in various areas of the body, detail pieces, and base. This item shows rust in various areas of the body and base. The wires on this item are worn, snapped, and frayed. Several trim and detail pieces on this item are broken and missing. The lettering on this item is chipped and partially faded. The cord to the remote has been cut on some places. The controller has been replaced by the previous owner, and the metal hardware pieces show sharpie mars on them. This item shows extra wires attached to the base. This item did not run when tested and are being sold as is. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. The instruction manual is not included.
